f) ---- LIving in Paradise ( BOHOL )

Bohol is a rural and beach holiday destination and regarding facilities for expats living there, it doesnt have some of the services that one might want, but the important factor to consider is that what it lacks in amenities it makes up for in the quality of life in other respects. The overiding factor to also consider is that Cebu has everything you will need and is only 2 hours by fast ferry from Bohol. This makes it in some ways more attractitive as a retirement home than Boracay or Palawan.

Bohol also has a Domestic airport with regular flights to Manilla. Flying time is 75 minutes.

The capital Tagbilaran has banks , food outlets , and medical facilitities , and good schools. Although for specialist treatment , British type foodstuffs and the higher education schools, Cebu would have to be your port of call.

Communication is not a problem as internet and telephone services are modern and fairly reliable.

There are no large housing developments in Bohol, but there is land to buy and properties to rent and buy if you know where to look.

There are a number of Foriegners living in Bohol quiet happily, and i have heard good reports of Bohol as a potential home for expats.

The islands surrounding the main island of Bohol are earmarked for major redevelopment in the future which will make it a more desireable place to live in some respects as the infrastructure and communications will no doubt be enhanced.
