f) ---- Living in Paradise PALAWAN

Palawan is still vastly underdeveloped in some areas and as such is still very much a new destination for many expats looking to relocate to the Philippines , although there are growing number of British and other Western Nationals living in Puerto Princesa the capital city. There are also a small number of British expats running resorts along the coast of Palawan.

Its strongly thought that Palawan is the next growth area for tourists in the Philippines as new airports , a better infrastructure , and improved medical facilites are already underway.

Puerto Princesa is widley regarded as the 'Green' city of the Philippines and is a very clean and well run city.

Living in Palawan is really a nature lovers dream if you can find a property to rent or buy in the less accessable but incredibly beautiful countyside.

Transport services once you are out of the main towns and the capital is difficult , so if you was thinking of settling here , then your own transport would be advisable,  because its a less developed part of the Philippines then its not as busy once out of Puerto Princesa so its quite easy to drive. Although travelling through the mountains, especially during the wet months can be a little hazardus if you are not an experianced driver in the Philippine.

Banks , schools , colleges , and food outlets are plentyful in the capital and there are decent links to the outside world via the airport and ferry services. As you get more into the unspoilt countyside power failures ( Brown outs) are fairly common , if only for a short time. But in some villages and coastal resorts the power is turned of at about 11pm and turned on again at 6am . Most foriegn owned houses and businesses have their own generator for the times when the local power is turned off.

Property is still affordable in Palawan but as the infrastructure improves the price of land and property is sure to increase..It is possible to find nice areas of land by the coast on which to build your own place ( land has to be in your wifes name) and there are properties available to buy and rent , including ,as with other areas , long term rental at various hotels and pension houses mainly in Puerto Princesa.
