General info about PALAWAN
Palawan is one of the most beautiful and intersting islands amongst the 700+ that belong to the Philippines . Approximatley 306 nautical miles South West of Manilla it is affectionally know as 'the last frontier' because of its rugged and unspoilt coastline , and interior.
Puerto Princesa the captital isacclaimed to be the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines ( you will be fined for dropping a cigarette butt on the floor if caught).Easy to get to from many parts of the Philippines, and numerous hotels and pension houses of all standards to keep any tourist happy.
Palawan is inundated with protected marine parks, nature parks , and wildlife sanctuaries which abound with flora and forna as well as some animals, mammals fish and birds that can only be found on Palawan of which many are endangered species.
With hundreds of beaches and coral reefs such as the world famous Tubbatha Reef which is on UNESCO's world heritage list and navigiable cave systems such as Saint Pauls Subterranean River National Park. The tourist intersted in nature will be blown away.
Not known for its night life although some bars and clubs exist in the capital, entertainment is usually provided by the resort so this is really a destination for the nature and beach lover.
