Angeles City Nightlife
BARS / CLUBS
Angeles City, just 2 hours by taxi North of Manila, and only 30 minutes from Subic Bay by the new espressway, is the club and bar capital of the Philippines and some would say S.E.Asia.
With over 100 bars and clubs within an area of a couple of miles ( most within 1 mile of each other) its easy to see why many SINGLE MEN come to Angeles for some fun and relaxation..
We emphasise SINGLE MEN because its not a place to bring families as most of the entertainment is of an adult nature. Most of the bars will have a number of girls outside the main door dressed in skimpy clothing , bikinis, and sometime more exotic wear to entice the guys in for a drink. Although there is no nudity on show from the outside (and legally on the inside too), it is still not a place we reccommend for families to come across too often.
Some of the more popular bars are -
Voodoo
Camelot,
Atlantis
The Body Shop
The Doll House
Cotton Club
We will be giving more information and links to these bars and others soon.
Some of the bars are adjoined to hotels and a growing number of bars are owned and run by the same few organisations such as the Doll House Group and the Camelot Group of companies. No expense has been spared with the lighting, sound systems and fittings as well as the dramatic fascades and dance floors in some of the major bars , although there are also the smaller cheaper clubs and bars both in Fields avenue and around the sidestreets and this adds to the choice and atmosphere. Just some of the places we recommend are Mirrors Club situated at the Clarkton Hotel about 5 minutes trike ride from Fields Avenue, The Thi - Hi Bar that is a smaller and less expensive establishment but has a good atmosphere and very friendly without being too much 'in your face' Others nearer to ,and in, Fields Avenue are The Brass Knob Hotel and Bar on Perimeter Road next to the ABC Hotel and the Doll House which is one one the bigger establishments on Fields.also the Bunny Ranch where Jimmy the American manager will take good care of you.
Some of the bars are open for breakfast , and serve food throughout the day . These are usually the ones that are attatched to an Hotel or Resort. Most of the bars and clubs are set around a small main area being Fields Avenue , and because most traffic is banned from Fields Avenue in the evening, it is easy to stroll from bar to bar taking in the views and atmosphere.
Eventually Fields Avenue becomes Perimeter Road and the bars continue on Perimeter Road and on the side streets coming off it for approximatley 4 miles interdispersed with shops, restaurants, hotels and apartments..There are bars and clubs in other areas of Angeles but Fields and the Perimeter Road areas are the main areas.. Bars away from Fields Avenue tend to have slighty cheaper prices for the entertainment and drinks etc.
When walking around the bars , be prepared for many girls outside the bars encouraging you to go inside. This is done in a lighthearted way , and is all part of the fun , not least because of the many beautiful young girls doing the asking. All types of Western music is played , louder in some establishments than others . You will just have to decide which is your preffered level. Live music is available in some venues.
If you are easily offended or embarrassed to see semi naked girls outside the bars or even less dressed girls inside , then the area around Fields Avenue is NOT the place for you.
Inside the bars you will usually find a stage full of girls in bikinis 'dancing' , and many of the bars have seats at the egde of the stage for watching the girls while you drink your beer. If you like any of the girls , you can offer to buy her a drink and she will sit beside you and you buy her a ' ladies dink ', As long as you are buying drinks , the girls can be good company if you are alone . The drinks are usually double what you pay yourself. If you would like the lady to accompany you on a visit to other bars , or maybe stay with you longer , you would obviously have to get permission from the bar for her to stop work for a couple of hours or longer , so speak to the Mamasan or Papasan ( supervisors) of each venue for advice and info.
DINING OUT
Dining in Angeles is as diverse as elsewhere in the Philippines , and there are many restaurants in Fields Avenue , but the most popular seem to away from Fields Avenue and on Perimeter Road, in S.M .Mall and along the McCarthur Highway , including Filippina , Chinese , Japanese and Indian Restuarants. One that comes recommended is the Cottage Kitchen on Perimeter Road not far from the Clarkton Hotel. As there is a huge American, Australian influence and a large but lesser number of British ex pats Western style food is easy to come by .
OTHER THINGS TO DO IN THE EVENING
Malls( Shopping Centres)
With stores, restaurants, cafes, spas, small shops and multiscreen cinema , these are a favourite place to visit in the evening until 10pm. There are also many ATM's there to cash money.
There are a number of places such as the R&B club at the top end of Perimeter Road that are excellent for live music. You wont find any bikini girls inside but if you like to dance and listen to some excellent modern R&B its worth a try.
Look in the press for concerts, firework displays, fiestas, and special events being held by the many hotels in the area.
