Angeles City was formely known as Kulait and was a barrio of San Fernando It separated and became an independent town in 1892 , but it wasnt until 1964 that it officially inaurgurated as a chartered city.
Angeles City and Clark Airport in particular was the site of the biggest American air force base outside the USA until it closed in 1991.
Also in 1991 the nearby volcano called Mount Pinatubu erupted causing much damage which many people thought Angeles would not survive.
Clark is now a thriving international and domestic airport and big plans are in motion to expand the airport , and build entertainment resorts and complexes which will bring renewed prosperity to the area.
