How To Get To PUERTO GALERA
Puerto Galera is approximatley 3 hours drive from Manilla. This can be either by Public bus from the bus stations in Cubao and along Edsa . There is also a pick up point outside City State Towers Hotel in Ermitta.Tickets can be booked at Travel agents or at some hotels, ask at reception, or you can hire a taxi. If you have a large party to take then vans ( mini bus) can be hired. ( See our advertisers section) .
After your car or bus journey which takes you to Batangas Pier , you will get a large Banca style Ferry. When you arrive at the pier unless you have made arrangements to be met by your resort , be aware of porters picking up your bags , they will want paying so if you are able and want to carry yourself, just say Hindit Salamat Po ( No Thank You). You may have to be rather forceful. Tickets can be bought from the ticket office inside the terminal building. Food and drinks are available inside but smoking is not allowed although you can go outside to smoke if you wish. No food or drinks are usually available on board so buy in the terminal if you require them.
Once you land at White Beach , Sabang , or Balatero you will usually be met by a representative from your resort . If you have arranged a private transfer from Batangas you might land at the resort itself and get off the ferry down a narrow walkway and maybe ( depending on the tide) into a small boat to be punted the few yards to land. or have to wade in akle deep water. But mostly you will walk directly on to the sand. The Major of Puerto Galera is trying to stop all ferries from just landing anywhere and to only land at the recognised port , this is to stop the waters getting too polluted with fuel from the ferries and other craft. Once you arrive at the landing point , and you have not been met by a rep from the resort or you havn't booked a place, then to travel you can get a jeepney or tricylce . WELCOME TO PARADISE
The waters between Batangas and Puerto Galera can sometimes be a little choppy, so if you are bad sailor , we advise not too much to eat before you get onboard. The voyage will take just over an hour.
