General Info about SUBIC BAY
Subic is just 210 kilometers north west of Manilla and was at one time the biggest USA naval base outside the United States.It is now a Freeport and still a bustling port in its own right
With the new expressway having opened the travelling time has been greatly reduced and Subic is now only 45 minutes from Angeles and around 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic from Manila
The area has many activities to take part in as well as some of the best diving in the Philippines, with many 2nd world wrecks withing a short distance from the shore . The City itself is a busy place with the usual shops and restaraunts , a car is handy here as, apart from the many jeepneys getting around the freeport zone which is well worth a visit , can be a little awkward.
Many types of accomodation is available with a growing bar scene. Many Westerners have made their home here , and this is reflected with the amenities.
It has a nice beach area with safe swimming , and is home to one of the biggest Yacht Clubs in the Philippines
