g) ---- Keeping safe and well in BORACAY

STAYING WELL

There are only medical services for the basic illnesses and injuries on Boracay at the Boracay Island Hospital and several private clinics.

For more serious medical attention then treatment at nearby Aklan (Aklan Baptist Hospital) will be required . Aslo there is better facilities at Kalibo , Iloilo and of course Manilla.

There are several chemists on Boracay for pescription and other medicines.

Anti malaria medication is advisable and needs to be taken 1 week before you arrive in the Philippine provinces.

Drink bottled water.

STAYING SAFE

Boracay is a very safe island but general rules for keeping safe apply here as elswhere in the Philippines.

There are regular patrols by tourist police and sometimes even the Philippine Navy have a boat stationed offshore. Boracays many visitors are valuble commodity to the Philippine tourist industry so their safety is given top priority.

Be aware that their is a very strong anti drugs policy in the Philippines . Eevn possession of a small amount of drugs can result in life imprisonment or even the death penalty and because Boracay attracts many foriegners drug pushers are known to operate in certain areas although not widespread.

Be aware of people spiking your drinks if left unattended and also be aware of girls offering their company. They may be underage or even 'ladyboys'.

Avoid unlit quiet areas.
