Boracay has for a long time been the location of choice for many expats wishing to relocate to the Philippines.It is after spending some time on Boracay that first gives them the idea that life could be a beach in the Philippines.
In practical terms Boracay is NOT a practical solution to where you want to live for everyone ,as the costs of houses and apartments are a lot more expensive here than many places in the Philippines. The cost of living can be more also and the logistics of living on a very small island means that for many things you will have to travel by boat , or even plane to access some of the things that every expat will require from time to time.

Having said all that , Boracay still remains a popular place to live. Western type food is easliy available , and because of internet access , communication is no problem. Also , because its a favourite holiday spot for westerners , you will never feel cut off completley from the Western world , always being able to find someone at a bar or restaurant wanting to chat about ' back home'. . Because of the size of the island there are not 100's of properties waiting to be aquired by prospective buyers , but there are companies that are developing Boracay real estate for the foreigner.

There is no High Rise development on the island but there are high quality propererties for you to consider . For many of the services and facilities that someone living in Boracay will need at sometime you can obtain these from the mainland ,but some things will mean the expense and flight time to either Cebu or Manilla.
It is certainly an idylic place to live in some respects, although it is not a ' Desert Island ' type location which many Westerners like, unlike many other locations in the Philippines.Its a matter of choice and what you want from a home in the sun.
