Getting Around CEBU
Cebu is a lot easier to get around than Manilla , but still suffers from a fair amount of traffic , especially in rush hour. The roads seems more spacious so a little easier to negotiate.
Cebu doesnt have an LTR , but Motor Tricycles are used a lot more away from Cebu City itself , along with the usual Taxis and Jeepneys and Buses/Vans. When you have found out the right Jeepney to take you to the area you want to go , you just wait by the roadside along the route and flag it down. Once inside , ( they can be a very tight squeeze , and watch your belongings and pockets as pickpockets are known to use Jeepneys). You pass the fare ( minimum fare 7 pesos , maximum fare 12 pesos )down the jeepney , and your change will arrive back to you he same way. When you have reached the place you want to get off just shout out or tap the handrail.
Once you are familiar with Cebu , it is possible , but still not adviseable to drive around Cebu . Some of the British expats drive around in their own vehicles , so if you are brave , you could consider hiring a car. In Cebu and in the other provincial towns and cities some expats ride motor bikes. Again , we dont advise you to do this , but if you are experianced rider and have good health insurance you could always give it a try.
Taxis in Cebu are generally in better condition than in Manila and you wont have as much trouble with the drivers regarding getting ripped off. Usually they put the meter on automatically and the experiance is a lot nicer Again just flag the Taxi down when you spot one for hire. There are always many taxis around , especially on the main highways and around the Malls.
