SCUBA DIVING/ SNORKELING
The Philippines is amongst the best locations in the world for diving and snorkelling. With areas such at Subic Bay, Puerto Galera , Palawan , Bohol and many more , the Philippines is teeming with some of the greatest dive sites in the world.

There are many diving schools and resorts as well as diving excursion organisers , where you can learn the sport by PADI qualified instructors.
The Philippines is fast becoming THE place to go diving with Whale sharks being regular visitors to the islands.
The seas around the Philippines are thought to be the areas where most of the worlds species of marine life originated , and here you will find species that won't be found anywhere else in the world.

SAILING / BOATING.
With over 7000 islands , sailing and boating in its various guises is more a way of life than a sport in the Philippines. From yachting to kayaking, the local banca( the common type of boat the Filipipino uses to get around) to speedboats, there is always opportunities to explore the beautiful and safe seas. Island hopping to deserted islands and coves is one of the most popular pastimes.

SURFING
There are areas in the islands that offer fantastic surfing, some areas can be a challenge to find or get to but well worth the trouble. Not as commercialised as diving but none the less a popular and growing sport in the Philippines.
One popular area for surfing is Honomonhon Island off the southern tip of Eastern Samar. Also the Islands and beaches around Nothern Samar such as at Biri ( Cogon Beach) and in Nueva ( Baler Aurora).

GOLF
There are over 100 golf courses of which many welcome tourists as guests. The standards of the courses vary from the beautiful 9 hole courses to championship standard courses. The backdrop to these beautiful courses can be the most awe-inspiring in the world with clear blue seas and golden beaches a stones throw from the course. There are also courses located within the major cities such as Manila. There is even one that offers night golf in the shadows of the many hotels and office tower blocks, There are many tournaments arranged throughout the year, and the standard ranges from just fun to championship standard

CAVING
With the many miles of coastline in the Philippines, its not surprising that there are both coastal and inland caves that vary in difficulty to navigate . One of the most visited of the caves is St Paul underground river in Palawan . 8 kilometres in length, the river takes you through a number a large chambers , the biggest being ‘the cathedral’.
Access for tourists is by a small canoe type banca. This is a world heritage site and thus a protected area and has been nominated as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Also check out the Penablanca caves in the Sierra Madre Mountains, Kalinga Province.

HORSERIDING
Many resorts and island destinations have horse riding available at very affordable prices. All standards of riding is catered for. If you visiting Boracay pay a visit to the riding stables just inland from the famous White Beach . An English lady owns it with her Filipino Husband and they can cater for all levels of riding and offer many interesting treks across mountains and beaches.

TREKKING
This is a popular pastime for many tourists and locals alike and can range from a gentle walk along golden beaches , to exploring the wilder areas and maybe taking in a waterfall climb for the more energetic and capable.
Jungle Treks are especially popular around the Subic Bay area with a member of the local indiginous tribe showing how to survive and live in the Wilderness.
Palawan is another area with many treks in protected areas which is teeming with widlife and and natural beauty.

WHITE WATER RAFTING.
White water rafting is another popular pastime with many locations all over the Philippines. One of the best areas is the Chico River in Sierra Madre Mountains , Kalinga Province. Nice area with the ancient rice terraces, hanging gardens and Penablanca caves to have a look at while your there.
Along with all the items mentioned above there are many other sports or activites that you can take part in such as paragliding, waterskiing, shooting, and many more.
