The
The bigger cites are renowned for the bars and clubs that stay open until the early hours and if its this kind of vacation you want then head for Manila, Cebu, Angeles City or Subic Bay.
The cities will have more than enough variation of nightlife to suit any taste, although if you are planning on visiting the provinces the entertainment for foreigners is sometimes restricted to the particular resorts.
Fantastic restaurants with a diverse mix of Asian and Western food, karaoke bars, Girlie or Bikini Bars, Discos, Multiplex cinema establishments ,café bars, beautiful spas to be pampered and many cultural shows, mean you will never be bored. Of course this is all offered at prices that you will find so much cheaper than back home.Whatever you desire to do , its available in the
The
Fish ,Vegetables and of course Rice dishes are the staple diet of the Filippino people , along with fresh fruit. With many variations on the theme , you will be spoilt for choice. Chicken and pork dishes are also popular, with whole roasted pig ( Lechon Baboy) served up at special celebrations
Western style food is also available with a number of European and American owned cafes and bars selling food, especially in the major cities and resorts.
You can find Mcdonalds and the Filippino equivalent which is called Jollibee everywhere in the

CLUBS –
These are mainly found in the cities although you may find a small number linked to the many resorts in the provinces. Nearly everyone sings or plays music in the
The standard of the music in the
The prices in the Clubs is very affordable and they are as safe or safer than Clubs in West. However we advise that you stay in the tourist areas as they are used to catering for foreigners. If you visit a bar usually frequented only by locals then its easier to fall foul of a Filippino thats had too much to drink and maybe has issues with foriegners . Always best to ask around at your hotel or get info about bars clubs etc from sites like this one.
GIRLIE/BIKINI BARS
Again these are mainly found in the cities with,
If your looking for the company of a beautiful girl they are readily available in these places -at a price. If you find a girl you like and you would like her company to go bar hopping or even longer , you will have to pay compensation to the bar which is called a ‘bar fine’. The cost varies with each establishment. If you have enjoyed the ladies company then its normal practice to offer her a little extra mony as a tip. Allow an average of 1500 – 3000 pesos (approx£21 - £42) for the bar fine and the tip is upto to you.
The supervisor of the bar /club ( known as the mamasan - lady supervisor or Papasan - Male Supervisor) is the person to speak to. The supervisors or managers at the clubs whom usually will be mingling with the customers all night are great sources of info and adviice about their particular areas, saftey, prices etc. You will also be asked to buy the girl that sits with you in the bar or club a 'Ladies Drink' these are more expensive than the normal customer drinks as the girl will get a small commission from the drink. You are completley within you rights NOT to buy a drink for the girls , but it is expected and quite strongly encouraged in some bars. Many papasans are foriegners.
KARAOKE BARS (KTV)
These can range from the purpose run bar with g.r.o’s.( girls that look after you in the bar and encourage you to buy more drinks,( some are available to take out of bar , again at a price if you so wish.) to the small local café or shop that has a karaoke machine that you pay for each song you want to sing. The latter type are usually frequented by locals, but the drinks and food can be cheaper than the bigger places. More care should be taken in these placesm and certainly dont visit any in badly lit side streets.
CINEMA
Multiplex cinemas showing all the latest movies are found in the Malls. Very modern and clean places , very cheap, and a good way to spend an evening before or after you eat.#
SPA’S / HEALTH CLUB/GYMS
Spas are very popular in the
Very cheap compared to Western health clubs and many different types of massage. 300 pesos (approx £4) is not uncommon for a very good 1 hour massage. Massage and treatments are also widely available at hotels etc.Fitness is also popular here so Gymnasiums are very easy to find.
CULTURAL SHOWS.
Philippine culture is an important part of living in the Philippines and people love to perform whether it be singing, playing music, dancing or acting so you will find many different types of shows with a local traditional flavour in many places
here. It might be a show by the local school children, or a bespoke performance by traditional dancers and artistes, whatever takes your fancy you will find it here. The local parades during fiestas which seem to happen every week in the Philippines are great entertainment .Check out local press, this website or enquire at your hotel for details of events.
